Pioneering permissionless and modular interoperability.
We’re looking for a senior frontend engineer with strong opinions - and crypto experience - to join us in NYC or London.
We are Abacus Works, a small but mighty team of a dozen that recently raised an $18M seed to build Hyperlane.
Hyperlane allows developers like Aave, Osmosis and Eclipse to connect across any blockchain. We are the only permissionless interoperability tool: you can deploy your own contracts, relayer, and validators to achieve interchain messages, tokens, and queries.
With your help, our next big step is radically simplifying the steps to get Hyperlane up and running: going from six complex steps today to one-click interop.
The fun part is due to its permissionless design Hyperlane works across many chains & VMs. Our tooling & docs are currently focused on EVM, but we are rolling out support for more including Solana, Cosmos and Move. So your challenge here is achieving greater simplicity while also having a broad interchain footprint.
We’re a flat, fast-moving team and we want you to have wide latitude in how you achieve this mission. We have a CLI, SDK, deployment tooling, docs & guides, but we’re open to revamping those and introducing new UIs too. You will own the end-to-end developer experience, with support from another frontend engineer, PM, and our broader dev team.
What is Hyperlane? Hyperlane is a developer platform that allows users to build interchain decentralized applications. Applications built on top of Hyperlane can share state across multiple blockchains using Hyperlane' generalized cross-chain messaging protocol. Hyperlane isn’t a blockchain. Hyperlane is how you build truly interchain applications. What problem does Hyperlane solve? Hyperlane aims to make the "Which chain(s) should I deploy on?" question obsolete. In traditional web development, the choice of hosting environment is mostly an afterthought. While material differences exist between cloud providers, the experience that the developer can deliver to their users is not meaningfully impacted by this choice. On the other hand, a web3 developer's choice of hosting environment can have existential implications for them and their users. Decentralized applications have largely succeeded due to accessibility and composability, but applications are only accessible and composable within the chain on which they're deployed. Until now. We envision a world where developers think more about the application they're building than the substrate they're building it on. Where developers and applications are not tied to a single chain. Where developers can build applications that are accessible from everywhere and composable with everything. How does Hyperlane work? Hyperlane is a generalized messaging protocol that allows applications to communicate between blockchains. With a simple smart contract call, Alice on Ethereum can send a message to Bob on Avalanche. Hyperlane is secured by a proof-of-stake validator set in combination with a novel approach to application-specific security we call sovereign consensus
